So …

My birthday is coming up in a few weeks.

But. I’m not a big birthday gal.  I love celebrating others birthdays, but not really my own.

It’s kind of weird, because I remember being pretty birthday obsessed when I was little.

{One year, I had an amazing joint birthday party with my middle school BFF. It was an ice skating party (all girls, of course). I’m not just tooting my own horn… it was one to remember. Our moms went all out. We had pink and silver hand-designed invites, custom cupcakes … the whole shebang. And I definitely wore a bright pink and purple little girl’s skating outfit with my sparkling white figure skates. But, as you can see from this post, it was a short-lived hobby. Oh well}

Now… birthdays are just anticlimatic. I feel so weird about making a big deal out of myself. Plus, they just can’t live up to the pure, unbridled happiness that I remember from elementary school birthdays.

(Sad but true)

Not to say that I don’t think about it (as evidenced by this post), but  I’m going simple this year.

Lots of wine and cheese and friends at my apartment, and then wandering out to a cheap bar to finish off the night.

I was just going to ask for a new phone and/or money for my birthday (Hey, writing doesn’t pay much. A girl’s gotta survive),

but I’ve been lusting after this on Etsy, and I think I need to add it to my wishlist:

So pretty, right? It’s a pretty small gift, but I grew up in California mountains, surrounded by oak trees. This seems very fitting.

Happy weekend friends!

    that’s a total trip. my mom keeps EVERYTHING of mine from when I was little and I mean EVERYTHING. i was going through some of the stuff the other day, having major flashbacks of Hillbrook days, and i came across the invite to yours and Camilla’s birthday party at the ice skating rink. crazy. totally nostalgiac. even though you don’t overly enjoy celebrating your own birthday, i hope you have an amazing one this year.
